Think for yourself... Question authority

Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.

Think for yourself... Question authority.

I'm all for exploring the world and asking questions.

Questioning authority is also fine - but there is a fine line that borders on foolishness which one may with a little sense want to avoid. There are scenarios in which questioning authority will result in loss of life- in the army is an example. You are broken of your ego and taught to obey orders to stay alive. There is nothing wrong with that - in life sometimes you need to obey blindly and trust people who have some authority.

Even your statement 'Think for yourself.. question authority' demands that it be accepted without questioning your authority. I know you mean it as a suggestion but you wouldn't put it out there if you didn't expect at least a few people to take it.

Oh and yes, congratulations on starting a blog :)
